UFC Fight Night 37: Gustafsson v Manuwa – Here We Come!

UFC Fight Night 37

Myself and a few friends have booked tickets for the UFC Fight Night 37: Gustafsson v Manuwa event at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday 8th March, 2014!

I can’t wait, I’m really looking forward to what should be a fantastic night of fighting. I think a lot of people are underestimating Manuwa and despite his performance against UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones, Gustafsson may be a little overrated.

It’s a shame that the Ross Pearson had to pull out of his fight with Melvin Guillard through injury, I was looking forward to seeing them after their first fight at UFC Fight Night 30: Machida v Munoz in Manchester back in October ended in a No Contest after Pearson was cut by an accidental but illegal knee. The Brad Pickett v Ian McCall should be a great fight though and the rest of the card has decent potential.

Here’s the tale of the tape for the main event fighters:

Gustafsson v Manuwa

PokerStars Sunday Storm – 133rd of 48,235

Last night I finished in 133rd place out of a total of 48,235 players winning $250.82 in the Sunday Storm on PokerStars.

Whilst it wasn’t a bad return on my investment, I was a little disappointed that I didn’t go further but despite never building a relatively sizeable chipstack, I played well in the longest tournament I’ve been in for quite a while.

My New Toy – Hubsan X4 FPV RC Quadcopter

Hubsan X4 H107D FPV Quadcopter

My boss Shelley bought me a fantastic present for Christmas, the Hubsan X4 H107D FPV Quadcopter!

I’ve had a little play around with and it’s absolutely brilliant if a little tricky to get the hang of initially. The picture quality is excellent and once you get the hang of it, flying it in normal mode is pretty easy, but in expert mode it is incredibly difficult to control and it’s going to take a lot practice to become proficient at, as is flying by FPV.

It didn’t take long for me to find that it’s best to use the blade guard whilst learning to fly as I’ve damaged a lot of blades already; I’ve bought some spares and also invested in some 500mAh batteries (improving on the 380mAh one provided) along with a 5 way charger to give me more flying time.

Below are some of the Hubsan X4 H107D FPV Quadcopter’s features and specifications…

General: Lightweight airframe with 6-axis flight control system AND adjustable gyro sensitivity
Motor(X4): 0820 Coreless
Frequency: 2.4GHz + 5.8GHz (Video transmission)
Transmitter: 2.4GHz 4 channels vs 4.3 Inch LCD
Control distance: Up to 100 meters (In open space with no interfearence)
Live video distance: Up to 100 meters (In open space with no interfearence)
Battery: 3.7V Voltage, 380mAh li-po battery with auto cut off safety
PCB Charging time: About 30 minutes
Flight time: Around 7 minutes USB charging cable allows to charge by computer or wall charger
Camera: 0.3M pixels
Resolution: 640 x 480 Instant video review on transmitter
Memory card: SD card inserted in TX, Micro SDHC class6 2-16G (option) 4 night LED lights & rubber feet

The video below (not me) shows the Hubsan X4 FPV in action over Alton Towers amusement park in Staffordshire; once I have become a bit more capable I’ll upload some of my own footage. Thanks for the great present Shelley!
